32-40, 38-55 questions

Can someone please tell me the recommended rifling twist and bullet weight for 32-40 and 38-55 for 200 yd shooting?   I may be interested in buying a Uberti High Wall, what is the rifling twist of their 38-55?  I hear brass is tough to find right now, can 38-55 be made from something else?

Thanks everyone! Joe S

For 32-40 twists are available in 1:16 - 1:15 - and 1:14 The 1:16 is traditional but most target shooters today are using the 1:14 twist. Some benchrest shooters are using tighter twists down to 1:11.
For the 38-55 the origional twist is 1:18 target shooters are usualy shooting 1:15 twist.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

.38-55 brass isn't hard to find if you don't mind the newer (read that too short!) Winchester brass. Finding it in the correct original length can be a task at times lately.
