crossno stocks

Just got my English style stock for my F Wesson/Earle #1 from Dave and Pam this afternoon.  Wow Roll Eyes!  They sure do really nice work on the wood.  I have had a number of "semi-inletted" stocks for various rifles over the years and never had anything like theirs.
This is the second time I've sent them wood to be  shaped.  I know Dave has lots of good wood too but these were special blanks I got elswhere.  The myrtle wood stock for my 38-55 "wall slipped on nice and tight with no gaps with just a few hours work scraping around the action tangs.  Fitting the schuetzen buttplate took more time obviously
The wood for the wesson will take a lot more effort since it is a combination lock with a sidehammer sideplate so it'll be a lot more like fitting up a muzzleloader in some ways.  The exterior is really smooth already, If anything its smother than the one on the "wall
In fact I have been shooting the 'wall all last season, without any exterior sanding or staining yet.  Even raw, its already much better finished than some of the other stocks seen along the line at EG are anyway  Cheesy LOL.
I was a little afraid that the quality of that 1st stock was a lucky fluke but this second one is if anything even better.
IN case you were wondering I'm really impressed with Dave and Pam Crossno's product. Grin

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Preaching to the choir here! I too enjoyed the end results of the wood I sent to Dave! He shaped a set of stocks for my Hepburn project rifle, and I'm still happy every time I look at them! Plenty of material to work with, but not a ton of extra to remove either.
I previously got some wood for a Ballard I restored from another source, and it left much to be desired! I'll let Dave and Pam do all my shaping from now on!

Do they have a web site? or could/would you pass on their contact info?

Thanks,
Chris

Glen just posted Dave and Pam's website on the "22 liner" thread

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Snail address is :
Dave Crossno Gun Service
23380 N. Anderson Rd
Arcadia OK 73007
phone:  405-396-8786

FWIW, I'm taking my stock and the barreled action, in the white, with me to the Ohio gun collectors show this weekend in Ohio as part of our ASSRA display---at least I'll have it there if anyone wants to look at it.
I'll also have a bunch of the Single Shot Classic raffle entry forms---  which --if you've forgotten--- is based on the same
F Wesson/Earle #1 Longrange Rifle action as mine--only the dressed up engraved, gold inlaid version.  Dave did the stock for that too really out of this world grade wood
