Just got my English style stock for my F Wesson/Earle #1 from Dave and Pam this afternoon. Wow
! They sure do really nice work on the wood. I have had a number of "semi-inletted" stocks for various rifles over the years and never had anything like theirs.
This is the second time I've sent them wood to be shaped. I know Dave has lots of good wood too but these were special blanks I got elswhere. The myrtle wood stock for my 38-55 "wall slipped on nice and tight with no gaps with just a few hours work scraping around the action tangs. Fitting the schuetzen buttplate took more time obviously
The wood for the wesson will take a lot more effort since it is a combination lock with a sidehammer sideplate so it'll be a lot more like fitting up a muzzleloader in some ways. The exterior is really smooth already, If anything its smother than the one on the "wall
In fact I have been shooting the 'wall all last season, without any exterior sanding or staining yet. Even raw, its already much better finished than some of the other stocks seen along the line at EG are anyway
LOL.
I was a little afraid that the quality of that 1st stock was a lucky fluke but this second one is if anything even better.
IN case you were wondering I'm really impressed with Dave and Pam Crossno's product.
