Can a person rechamber at 28-30 into another 28 caliber round?  I like the 28-30 but want a little more power than this cartridge can produce.  I was going to swap out the barrel but thought I might explore the thought of rechambering.  It is a stevens 44 1/2 single shot.  Thanks-

If it is an original Stevens Barrel in 28-30 with a good or better bore it would be a shame to rechamber it. Significant value lying on the shop floor in the form of chips. Now I say this not because I have any like or dislike for 28-30 caliber. Just an observation as to value lost. Not enough of the original stuff to go around. Now if it is a reproduction rifle with a newly made modern barrel then by all means go for it.

I agree with Fitz. Also there is no easy rechamber for this caliber. A new barrel would be a better idea by far. (.28/ 30-30 won't work.)

28-30-30 is not going to be an easy one.  If you must rechamber, use a 25-35 reamer with replaceable pilots, piloted up to your .28 cal. bore, then 7mm (.28 caliber) neck and throat reamers.  You can make the brass from 30-30 necked down in a modified 25-35 die, or neck expand 25-35.
