San Francisco Bay Area Shooters

Hello to All Big Bore Single Shot San Francisco Bay Area Shooters,

I received and now have at home with me my 1st Sharps Rifle. I’m interested in finding other Big Bore Single Shot Shooters that live in the San Francisco Bay Area. And if it has not been done yet maybe set up our own group for the area. As far as I’m aware we do not have any thing out here for those of us that shoot the Big Single Shot Rifles. If we already have something out here please let me know and who to contact. I’m in search of others like myself that has a Rifle like mine, it does not have to be a Sharps. 45 and 50 caliber rifles that shoot Smokeless and Black Powder. There is so much that we can learn from each other, and if it has not been done do we have enough interest to put together the big draw for shooter like us that they have done outside of California. I’m wondering if I’m the only one out here in the San Francisco Bay Area. If I am not I’d like to meet and get together with others that have Sharps and other rifles like the Sharps.

Wink   hi paul    sorry you have the misfortune to live in that area of Kalifornia......but there is hope. there is a good group that shoots in Sacramento. BPCR matches most every month and all the gab fests you can handle. i dont have the address but it is on the net. and then one day you will start shooting Schutzen !!!  good luck

Hi dave_j and Ray_Newman,

Thanks for the info on the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center. I’ve been thinking about going up there on a weekend that they shoot BPCR competition. I have a friend that is a member that lives near me. I see that if I am a guest of a member I can shoot on the Rifle Silhouette and the 1,000-Yard Rifle Ranges. I saw on their site that I could also shoot on their 300-yard range as a non-member. All of that sound very interesting in going to. Do either of you know anyone that shoots out their with the big guns, you know 40 cal and up? I’m still looking for others that shoot those rifles to meet. I hope that I’m not the only one out here that shoot the big guns. It would be nice to find some others that I can shoot my Sharps with. Thanks once again for your info.

Up here behind the redwood curtain, we had our first-ever schuetzen match last Nov. 5 (appropriately on Guy Fawkes Day).  1st place went to a .45-70 High Wall repro.  3rd to a spaghetti roller in .45-90.  Both had all the bellss & whistles.

There were no scores to brag about, but we had such a great time that we've put 4 more on the 2006 calendar.

The 200 yard range crosses a swamp full of cat-tails. Better than range flags for wind.  If the cat-tails lay down, you can watch the seagulls get blown sdeways over the range.  When that happens, the .45-70s take all the prizes.

Pau, I will post an advance notice of our next match, but we shoot informally on most week-ends.

Richard
