OK, I finally did it.  I found a Maynard I could afford and now it is mine.  I have reread Layman's book and am looking for my J Grant books, but in the meanwhile, I need to know...Can you put the barrel of an 1882 model on an 1873 model without undue modification?  Also, is there an adaptor like the Hadley for rimfire to make the "old" barrel take an equivalent cartridge with modern rim thickness?  I can't wait to shoot this puppy and will try to have it "up and running" for Spring @ E-G.  Grin

Singleshot, if you are reading this, I got that second bbl. at the auction for a reasonable $100.  At the time I was the only one interested in it!  Then they put 3 big boxes of moulds (including the one you wanted) in one big lot and sold them together at a price I didn't want to venture into.  What a SNAFU!! I'll have to tell you the whole ridiculous story offline.   8)

Green Frog

PS  I posted on reloading, but if anyone who didn't read this happens to have the current address (especially email) of the guy who took over Ballard Rifle's brass making operation, I sure would be glad to get it.  GF   Cheesy

Frogger- If they did THAT then I am glad Charlie and I left!  We ate lunch at the "other" Willis', then took a Sunday drive up the parkway and had a great time!  See ya!
