Savage Model 30 trigger

The Steven's Favorite (Savage mod. 30) has been around for a long time, but it is new to me. Mine is a .17 HMR caliber.

1. Since the mainspring affects both the trigger pull and the firing pin, can the trigger be lightened without risking misfires?

2. What is my best source for a peep sight? My own peepers are getting a little worn.

Thanks!

Thirty-six Views and Zero Replies. Looks like this distinguished group of experts has been stumped.

Undecided

Not stumped so much as there are no good answers- the mainspring can be "tweaked" somewhat, mostly by polishing/smooting ti.  Is it drilled for a tang sight?  If so the Lyman is the best bet. Embarrassed

Marbles now has a tang sight for the Model 30. Check out Brownells latest catalog, it's there.

O.K.

This agrees with what my local gunsmith said - - that I'll never have it as good as an AccuTrigger, but polishing will smooth it out some.

And I'll check Brownells.

Thanks!
