Anyone got a set they would sell?  Got a hankering for another Contender barrel.

Are you contemplating rechambering a 41 mag or 10mm T/C Contender barrel to 40/50SS or having a proper 40/50SS barrel made?

Heck,
Why not go "all the way" to the 40-70 or even the 40-90
while you are at it. I couid picture a 30" bull barrel

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

If it was only BP then the .40-70SS would be a better choice, but with smokeless powders the .40-50SS really shines. And the brass to make .40-70SS is nearly unobtainable, or very expensive, where .30-40 Krag or .303 British brass is about as cheap as brass can be and very easy to buy.
I have both and I'm becoming a big fan of the .40-50SS for midrange shooting.

I just went through this.  I bought the readily available 40-70 SS dies and they work fine for loading 40-0 SS.  The only shortfall is that you can not crimp with them.
If you have to crimp you might be able to use some other readily available die like a 41 mag.  Prolly find one pretty cheap on ebay.
On the 40-70 SS I got new RCBS from Graffs at dealer cost.
