Two newly acquired rifles

Purchased these from Dan Morphys September auction. Ballard is a No.9 that was converted to shotgun butt. A very lightweight profile barrel chambered in 32/40. Bore is perfect, came with irons and the Winchester scope discussed in my other thread.

Other rifle is the one I am really excited about. Hepburn Hi Power in .30/40 with a perfect bore. Really a unique rifle with a very early SN for a high power, thus the typical buttplate instead of the late style, and a checkered forearm.

Nice! Both of them!
Glad to see the addiction is going strong.

When I had mine back East it turned green like cellery. Humidity.

You got your moneys worth of checkering on those rifles.

Ballards and Hepburns don't mix.  Its kinda like the Hatfields and McCoys.  I will be more than happy to take the Hepburn off of your hands to preserve peace and harmony in the safe.  Tom   Shocked

I keep the Ballards on one side of the vault room and the Hepburns on the other. They keep the Winchesters cowering in the corner

In my safes, the Hepburns, Ballards and Highwalls all play together well.  The difficult ones are the Sharps, they're always tipping over and scuffing up the other three, I think there's some serious jealousy going on.  I think it's mostly a side hammer thing, possibly a size/bully thing...   Grin Grin
