New highwall on the way!

Jack you are a bad, or maybe good?, influence Smiley

I've been looking for a DST pistol grip highwall with a shotgun buttstock.  It's not 100% exactly what I was looking for but close enough.  It's in an unknown 35 caliber, clearly designed for long range BPTR shooting.  I'm guessing inspired by Dan Theodore's experiments with the 35 some time back. Hopefully on the 38-55 or 30-40 case.  I'll do a chamber cast on it and check the twist rate.  Ideally it'd be a 1:15 or 1:14 twist 38-55 Smiley.  If it's something that'll be too tricky to get up and running I'll send it to Ron Smith to become a 38-55.

Well Chris, I guess I can delete the bookmark I made for that rifle.  Glad you bought it.  It was very tempting!

I have been looking at that one for a while too.   It looks like it has some funky inletting on the buttstock, and I'm not sure if that's a non-factory trigger because I haven't see one thin and straight like that.  But we will see before too long.

I think the price was pretty good.  I like the wood on it.

Joe Salter thought it was possibly a 35 Wesson.  If so then I think the Krag brass would be close, except for quite a bit too short I think.

I'm hoping that since it was obviously built in recent times, that it's based on the Krag case.  But we will see!

If I correctly remember the cartridge that Dan was messing with, it was a 35-55 Maynard but based on a Krag case.  There was lots of controversy because some people were adamant that it existed in the past, and some where adamant that it didn't.

Based on what looks like one of Jim Klusken's angled front sights, and the interesting looking cheek riser, it must be for long range.  And the 34" barrel.  If that's the case then it probably has a really fast twist.

I'm just looking for something I can use black as well as smokeless ( fixed or BS'd ) that I can shoot very accurately out to the 300m we have at my local range.  I was thinking 14-15 twist 38-55 but maybe this might be even better.
