Be cautious before you jump in and start throwing stocks on Contenders and cutting off barrel length. State laws still apply. For example: In these states, you can do as you wish with Suppressors: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming. In these states, you still need a Form 1 or Form 4 from the ATF for suppressors (notice many of these are very pro gun, but have state laws that require the federal forms): Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin. In these states, you need to move to another state because they suck: California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island, plus Washington, D.C. The minefield is just as complex for short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, and AOW’s.
