I sold of my old Ballard Gorgous Ugly, with back operations just couldnt hold it up at 16+ pounds...one heavy sucker #5 oct/round. I have a CPA 22LR and it weighs 14.9 scoped #4 oct/round.I need to shave off two pounds.   Any barrels out there for sale # 3 or 3 1/2 contour oct/round?  Thanks....

Contact CPA. They do weight reductions on barrels.

Do they work on shooters too. I could use a weight reduction.

I've had a barrel cutdown by CPA. Excellent work.  Went from a four to a one for my grandson.

Pete: I had Ron Smith make one for my CPA rifle. Gain twist stainless steel octagon barrel. It is a switch barrel with a .40-60 Maynard barrel. I have a separate forearm for each barrel and of coarse I have to change the block from centerfire to a rimfire block to make the switch. I also had a .40-65 barrel which I sold since the Maynard shot better.

Looks good Dave.
I ended up weighing  out the barrel and  figured to just cut the barrel back to 22". I like short heavy. It will weigh 13.5 scoped. I can handle that.

Dave,

Nice looking rifle.

I bought one of Ron's gain twist heavy octagon
stainless barrels in 32 cal which I have yet to mount just yet. Originally I wanted a blued barrel but as most know you can't put a rust 'Blue' finish on stainless.

Your picture really helps with knowing how good it can look if left without
'a finish on stainless.

If you don't mind would you share the starting weight / contour and the Approximate finished length..?
