Procedure for removing Unertl front mount

Never mind, I got it sorted. Disassembly was straight forward and luckily I came across my over/under reamer set which it took the 5/16 over to bring the bore up to the correct slip fit. Reassembled and all is working properly.

I feel I need to remove the front mount on my 1 1/2" Unertl to fix it. But the recoil spring system won't get past the two small screw heads right behind the Pope rail.

Thank you,
CHarles

I don’t recap taking a spring off my 2 Unertls but I have done it dozens of times on my Lyman’s. I have even made several for them. I will check on of mine a bit later.  You might have to remove those screws hoping that the fixture they hold does not move. Hope someone with better knowledge than me chimes in soon.

I just checked my 14x and I see what you mean.  Unless the front bell unscrews like they do on my Feckers, removing the screws is the only way to remove the spring.
