	I use 7-10 grains pistol powder fill with corn meal and seat a wad on top of that . Fire in back yard.

	120 gr bullet and 57 gr 4064 fire formed these very nicely.

	as above, a 'normal' load, or factory ammo, works in my .280 imp. sometimes the accuracy is just as good as the formed cases. they do last much longer if neck sized alone afterward. years ago I did that cream of wheat deal shooting upwards and was disgusted by the rain of crap returning to earth and the nasty odor.

	Fire forming with reduced loads is only done when the brass needs a fair amount of forming. If it's close to the final dimensions just load it with your correct charge and a bullet and it's good. I open up the necks of my 9.3x74R brass to .410" with my M die expander, then charge the case and seat the bullets. Fire them like usual, and they're great. They have a wasp like waist after expanding, but shoot very accurately when fire forming them. I do the same with .303 British brass I chop off and expand for .40-50SS. They shoot great with my loads and finish forming.

In two weeks there's an auction with an original rolling block that is described as excellent in 40-50SS and I hadn't done any research. So, thanks for answering the question before I asked it or spent time digging it out!!

Then after expanding I final trim them and they're ready to load with my powder and bullet. 	What weight bullet are you using? I have 2, 40 cal. molds, Lyman's 410 gr. and an Accurate 260 gr.

	I use 30 Krag cases blown out with HS-6 shotgun powder. You use half of a load to make a 12 gauge shotgun shell. A low pressure shotgun shell is 32 grains of HS-6. I use 16 grains of HS-6 with the case then filled with cream of wheat to blow out my cases to make .40-60 Maynard cases. You can load the cases upright to not dump the powder or place a wad (foam or cardboard) to hold the cream of wheat and powder in the case before firing. I do it out on the range but some guys just fire it into a bucket in their basement - when the wife is not home.

	When fire forming cases I'll use any of a few shotgun/revolver powders and for a filler I like corn cob media. It can be a lot of fun in the summer, if you're not in a hurry. You turn the fire forming into a flying insect hunt, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, wood borers and maybe bumble bees. Bumble bees are usually pretty benign and I'll leave them alone but, the others, I do not like them. When you hit one you won't be picking up pieces to mount, they simply disentegrate!
