Thanks.  I had not seen that.  AFAIK, Bert Hartman is the Winchester guy.  His numbers seem good to me.

I have a Model 87 action only that I bought on this forum.  Currently is is sporting 22 Hornet area, but if I come across a fine large shank .22 lr barrel, I will probably swap it out.  I am saving the RF block just in case.

I also have a 2nd generation with dimple scope blocks and no rear iron sight.  Mfg 1914.

Here is one of mine. Serial number 100060. Barrel has regular Winchester markings but caliber  is 25-20 SS. A rebore maybe?

Just looked it is a flatspring and hammer stays at full cock after closing  action.

I am enjoying this thread but every time I spot that heading 'general Winder...' I say: 'hey, he wasn't a general...'  Unless somebody here gave him posthumous promotion.

According to Bert Hartman's typically definitive article, roughly a handful left the factory chambered in .25-20 WCF.  So you might want to double check the caliber.
