I have a right side cut down rifle in 30-30 but it is a small shank.  I have one better though.  Since this is a parts gun anyway, I have a Winder both sides cut down high wall action with a large shank.  I may switch the barrel to that action.

I disassembled the DST 22 today.  It has an interesting fat fly. it also has another number on the inside side of the DST tang.

I am not holding my breath that it will shoot moa groups at 100 with the factory .22 LR Winder musket barrel but you never know.

The first range session was yesterday at the Tacoma match. It was a very hectic day as I was working with the match director who was interested in my BSA MK II and the scope I thought I had used on it would not work. I had to take the 10x Fecker on it and get it sighted in for him. I was planning on shooting the match with my Stevens with the Fecker. Anyway, I got out the DST .22 and tried the 3 different brands of ammo I brought. The only one that was even somewhat consistent was the Ely black box. I tried two different front bag locations but only managed a 239 on the 5 bull target and a mediocre group. 
I think as not surprised. Hope to get some decent conditions later this week to try a larger of variety of ammo. Mechanically it functioned flawlessly.

Did better this morning with some Ely ammo.  I am happy that the Winder barrel is capable of some good accuracy.  5 shots 100 yds.

Surely you jest Vall, I think a nice 32-40 barrel would look good on this rifle and the barrel would be easier to deal with on a cut down side high wall action. I had about 4 spent cases drop into the action. One is still there. Turns out a 1885 has room for one spent case and still function OK.

I do like the looks and the wood is good.  I just don't shoot .22 that often. Maybe if it continues to do well I will leave it as is for next year's match season.
