Erratic dates appear on various topics

I noticed some months ago, that irregular dates were appearing on posted items.  In other words, the materials were being posted to my machine in erratic order.   I don’t understand how this can happen.  Is it a problem with my machine?   Have you heard of this phenomenon before.?
