Reversed Beach sight

I have several Rem RBs (No.1 & No.2) where the Beach sight has been reversed so that the curved side of the blade is to the rear. Is there a good reason why some shooters did this or was it purely a case of personal preference. I prefer to use the straight edge of the blade for sighting.

Perhaps it has more to do with getting the sight's base to fit snugly in the dovetail.

But that is so easily peened as to be unnoticeable.  And it could just as well be the reason.  On my '92 Winchester mine is in what to me is backwards, the curved surface toward the shooter.  I just haven't flipped it yet.

Perhaps the curved section reflects light better to make the front blade more visible…..

Some might find the curved surface to the rear has a better “flow” with the lines of the rifle.

Sort of a schuetzen feng shui style……

Probably just a personal preference for that particular sight picture.

Look at the number of available front sight configurations at the time, and even now.
Everyone seems to like something different.

Maybe they thought that was the 'correct' way.

The problem mounting that sight backwards is it possibly falling down with recoil

I always thought the firearm moved backwards during recoil.
In the picture, wouldn’t that hold the sight up if the ring were raised?? Am I missing something? Undecided
Besides those original Beach sights click into place with authority.

I doubt any gun recoils enough to fold down a combination sight like this. The sights are so light that there's just not enough weight for any amount of recoil to move them.
