I have a Hepburn with a ridiculous large bore. I'm wanting to have it rebarreled. I want to make my brass from 38/55 starline. I will neck turn the high side of the brass. The guy doing the rebarrel does not have a 32-40 fixed cartridge reamer. This is fine with me I want to make sure I have a lead bullet throat not a SAAMI chamber and throat.

I'm looking at 1 degree throat for lead. This is pretty normal. I powder coat most of my fixed cartridge and lube for breech seat. I want to do a custom mold with out the hard front driving band. I would like a tangent transition from body to nose with a fairly short nose ending in a decent meplet.

I'm new to 32-40 fixed cartridge reloading. The tapered neck is a little confusing to me. I plan to use an M die to expand the neck. How much of the neck actually touches the bullet?

I'm unsure how much free bore I need for a tangent ogive. I'm thinking around .020 and just adjust load length accordingly.

The custom reamer will take care of my brass that is formed from starline 38-55. I want to make sure I maximize my throat for lead.

Let me know if the plan is solid or if I'm missing something. I want this as a fixed cartridge not a Breech seated chamber.
