Winchester 1885 traditional hunter 38-55 (Read 365 times)

	I recently acquired this rifle and was manufactured in2005. Does anyone have any idea what the total production numbers are for the 38/55. Any suggestions for a target load using the starline long brass. The bore measures .375.

	It’s a miroku 1885 limited series Winchester.

	I had one in 45-70 that was my starter silhouette rifle. Worked very well until I upgraded to the bpcr. I had Lee Shaver do the trigger job, and made a screw to lighten the pull.

	I had one several years ago. Nicely made rifle, but I needed something with set triggers. If I recall, the chamber was the Winchester length of 2.08" and my notes suggest the same. At the time, I was just shooting BH209 in all my SS and my load then was 24gr. with a 250 or 335gr. slug. I believe it had a 1:15 twist. Very good shooting rifle. Today, my 38-55's are fed with 18gr. of IMR4198. Hope this helps. Mike.
