Appropriate Era Scope

I would to scope my 1890 40-60 Winchester, what would be appropriate era scope for this rifle?

Any of the MVA scopes would be correct. Depending on what you want to use the scope for, the Winchester B series scope would be a good choice. And there is one on here for sale at a not too bad price.

About the only scope that will meet that approximate date would be a Malcolm.

Sidle started back East in 1895, and moved to Ca. in 1907. He was one of the finest scope makers in the US, but his scopes are very hard to find, and very expensive, unless you just get lucky.

I think the terminology of "appropriate era" needs to be much later than the date the firearm was made. Most of these fine old single shot rifles didn't get scoped in the 1800's, and were likely scoped later than WWI often. Most competed with iron sights for years before they got a scope put on them later.
