About 4:00 Sunday afternoon, I decided to buy a spotting scope from Japan. Estimated delivery was this coming Friday to next Wednesday, week from tomorrow. I thought that was pretty good. It arrived on my doorstep this afternoon about 1:00 p.m. delivered by DHL.

I had a similar experience buying an older Nikon spotting scope from Japan via eBay.

Same results, ordered it in the afternoon, and had it by the afternoon two days later.

The Nikon was in its original box, and virtually brand new to boot.

Astonishing.

Ballards may be weaker,

I buy items off Ebay and often the items get delivered the next day by Amazon! Seems some sellers on Ebay use Amazon also, so they deliver the parts. Always way faster than typical Ebay sellers too!

That's exactly what I did. I bought a Nikon 78 ED with a 25-56X lens and also got a 75 power WF with it. It's like brand new and the 75X was still in its wrapper . The Nikon scope is the most underrated scope out there. It runs with the big dogs. The cost was $459 and shipping was $59 plus Minnesota sales tax. That also covered the import tax. I took it to the range today and started with the 25 to 56 eyepiece and could clearly see .22 bullet holes at 200 yds at around 40X. At 56X power, things got a little fuzzy. I switched to the 75 power and they were very visible but a little fuzzy. I think 75 power is pushing the scope to its max or it could have been the atmosphere. Nikon has improved their eye pieces since then with better coatings but I just couldn't see spending the extra money to get them. I started out with this scope close to 25 years ago and was amazed by its crystal clear image but it does not make a good bpcr scope if you have to spot for your own as it takes a while to get into the eyepiece with its short eye relief. I switched to a Kowa 77 to get the 25 extended eye relief which is great for bpcr but not so much for seeing tiny bullet holes at 200 yards. I bought it from a shooter back then that was well known but I can't remember his name. He told me he thought it was the best scope out there at that time. I don't think it was Jarhead as he was also selling scopes about that time.
