Looking for front sight inserts
Print Post
I recently acquired a Cody-Ballard manufactured High Wall.  It has a nice wind-gauge front sight, but only one insert.  It is similar to what MVA sells, but 0.040" thick.  I tried Original Sight Co, but no response.
I tried stacking three MVA inserts, but they shift a couple MOA back and forth.
Any suggestions?
Mike.

I have the same problem. What I do is put a small rubber band in the slot, pull it down so it's stretched tight and push the insert down and slide the clip forward which usually cutts the ends on the rubber band. The insert will be tight. Make sure the clip fits the insert first.

Traditional inserts, always a PITA. Used to make my own and that was a PITA..

Thanks, Westerner.  Neat idea, however, the inserts still flopped around.  I think my rubber bands are metric (imported).  Will look for some domestic replacements.  Wink

Would it work if you glued the insert stack together to get your thickness.

I stacked two MVA inserts and added a drop of low strength Loctite in one spot. I don’t plan on changing inserts. BUT I would be interested in buying some proper thickness ones if they become available.

If you know what you want and the dimensions and have access to a 3D printer then you can make your own that way. I have done this in the past. And printers are even better now.
