Question about new law about barrel length
Aug 17th, 2026 at 6:46pm

I have been hearing things about the laws regarding barrel length and suppressors changing.  I dont know how to find out for sure other than asking here.
What I would like to know is that is it now legal to mount my 14"Thompson Center Contender barrel to a shoulder stock ?
Thanks in advance.

At the moment,  the law only applies to the customers of the plaintiffs, and only those in the area where the lawsuit took place, maybe even down to the district.  So I believe you must be a current member of GOA, bought your firearm from Palmetto State Armory,  and maybe live in the area (unclear on the last part). There is another 60 day waiting period to allow for objections before the rule could be allowed to go nationwide.

ATF has sent notices to FFLs to continue business as usual pending further clarification of the rule

Depends on state. Oklahoma has in the law that short barreled firearms are only legal with the federal permission slip. Or so I've read. I would wait until the dust settles. Not worth the felony charge and loosing all your guns.
