I often see the BSA No.8 mounted on both Winchester SS & Stevens 44 or 44.5 rifles here in Oz. A special adapter plate was used. I suppose the BSA sight might have been easier to find rather than the original factory sights. The longer Winchester plate is on the right.

Spud,

I was at a friend's house years ago and he showed me a little box that once held an adaptor to mount a No. 8 BSA tangsight on a Ballard. The box had a little drawing of the BSA sight on a Ballard rifle, however the box was empty.
