Has anyone here ever heard of the Sulphur River Armory from Naples Texas ?
I have a model 1874 Sharps rifle that is so stamped on the side plates.  On the barrel is stamped Buffalo Express and 
calibre 45 2 4/10

So far its a mystery. It appears to be an original rebuild but I lack the experience to tell for certain. 
I contacted the city of Naples , Tx and was told they have no records of any such business ever existing there.
My Son found a historical mention of it from the depression era but nothing solid.
If anyone has any first hand knowledge of it I would appreciate hearing about it.

Many years ago there was a company in TX that sold a set of parts castings for a ‘74 Sharps action.  That name sounds familiar as does the city you mentioned. They used to advertise in the BPCR News. I no longer have any back issues or I’d see if I could find an ad.

Yes we did contact them and they are the wrong business. To my understanding they do not manufacture guns they are just a sports shop

It is chambered for the 45-90 and it a wonderful shooter.  It really doesn't matter because I love the rifle and its a great shooter its just the curiosity.  Two things about it that might indicate its an older rifle are its rifling twist rate at 20" and the original large firing pin.    

Every few years I bring this up still wanting to learn about this rifle I have.  Each time yields the same results, no solid answer.
Each failure to find out makes it seem more important to do so.
I am thinking that the re-build is old enough that anyone that knew about them is gone. I have never seen or heard of another one like it. In the end it always seems like what I have is a unique Sharps. That will just have to be enough.
