Who would like to see a additional category added to the forum, with the above title?

Questions get asked about the subject, pretty regularly.

Any discussion is welcome.

Yep

People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

It'd be a fine idea, Frank, and while you are at it, how about convincing the powers to either thin down or move to the bottom the overburden of all those stickies. Ninety percent of them are not pertinent to ninety nine percent of the readers and just muck up the entire section.

I'd love to see a scope section that's more aimed at traditional style scopes. Not interested in modern scopes personally, unless they're built in the early style.

After reviewing pages 1-10 in the General Discussion section  29 out of 250 topics involved scopes, sights, parts, spotting scopes, blocks, cataracts, etc....
Just curious if the cost, time and effort of adding and managing another category is worth it?

I have posted several things about scopes at the request of our members. A sticky would be a good idea. Some information is hard to find.

One thing is for certain, you can not shoot one of these rifles w/o a sight of some sort, right?

So, it's a real part of SS history and something that, overall is becoming less understood in the shooting world and might help a new shooter understand the old concepts and maybe move from modern to external scopes, as well as getting them setup with good iron sights, including tube sights.

It might also generate more conversations, overall with it's own topic. Plus, I have some stuff I'd like to share, before I'm not around to share it anymore.

I'm sure Chuck and at least few others could add a lot of valuable info on the subject, too.

The best part of your idea Frank is a separate area makes finding scope info or comments a whole lot easier to find. The search feature here often doesn't reveal things easily, or at times links too many off topic things. With a dedicated section it might take a bit to set it up, but after that I doubt it takes any longer to moderate and saves time.

I often say sights and sighting are the most important part of hitting targets. They control point of impact every shot fired.

Can’t count how many times I’ve seen shooters at matches that can’t adjust their sights quick and precisely. Have a real MOA rifle and don’t know which way to turn a knob.

Some really good rationale for a new category has been shared. It would be a benefit to the forum.
