I think that's a lot more plausible than some random postal employee opening a barrel tube and stealing a barrel to sell on ebay. Having had a gun stolen by USPS employee and then having to fight USPS to pay the insurance, I have no issue with assuming USPS stole something. If a package arrives empty, but resealed it's pretty obvious it didn't roll off a conveyor belt. And since the Ebay seller immediately withdrew his sale I'd say he knows it's stolen too and withdrew it to avoid being caught. If he honestly bought it he'd have begun talks with those it was stolen from.
