need help with caliber

old beat up stevens tip up rifle in centerfire.did a chamber cast but didnt get much of the rim.looked in a bunch of my books but not seeing a 32 caliber like that.any suggestions.measurements are a close but not exact

Somebody messed up the chamber, making a wildcat. The only early CF Stevens that I know of was the .25-20 SS, the rest were straight cases.

If it is reamed to a 9mm pistol chamber, a .38 S&W cartridge case might fit.  But what then?

Maybe. First thought was a 32-35, at least that was a common chambering, but wrong bullet diameter. But too much taper.

32-40 is a maybe. 

If the note isn’t pristine, I’d be tempted to bore it out to 35-30 Maynard or there were a couple of 38 stevens cartridges, 38-45 would be interesting. All of those have a .400-.405”  base like the 32-35 Maynard cartridge.

There might be an equivalent German rook cartridge Tesching(?) that some one was trying to imitate. 8mm is about the right bullet size.
