I took a browning b78 and put a 35 caliber barrel on it chambered to 35 whelen AI. It is a killer with a 225 grain accubond. It qualifies as a primitive gun in Louisiana.

I just read about this regulation not long ago.  Absolutely crazy (as some regs are!), but great plan to take advantage of it!!

I have to laugh at the definitions of many states.  Missouri is no different.

Here in Iowa for deer we can use any cartridge.350 caliber to .500 caliber.
We can use a .35 Whelan but not a .30-06. We can't use a 30-30 either. A .458 magnum is legal for deer. A .500 S&W is legal but a .50-70 isn't since the bullet is usually .515 in diameter. I would guess that the cut off is .500 so a 50 BMG wouldn't be legal.
