Porable Shooting Bench

Attached are PICS of my "Portabench" that I use for BPCR, MInipalma and .22 Long Range.
For BPCR/BPTR and 22BPTR Traditional class , we use Bench cross stix and we can not use a readr rest- only support with shoulder and hand. Obviously, my bench is left handed...
The right rear leg has been modified to be more out of the way.
Note the risers arrangement that allows the front legs to fold flat over the rear legs.

The BPCR and maybe other matches at Raton have provided an additional "any" Position to include elderly or other physically challenged people to be able to continue shooting.
For a couple years now the BPCR and .22 long range matches
at Lodi, Wi Rapids and Merril clubs are allowing portable benches for their matches, too.
Thankfully I can continue to shoot these matches.T
I built this bench using a table leg kit from my local Fleet Farm

Looks good. I passed on a commercial one at an estate sale, cheap. Still wish I would have bought it.

Nice job Arnie! What thickness did you use for the top?
Benches are allowed at the Harris LR match although only one has shown up so far.
Any matches at Rapids this year?

Bench first class all way. Should come with strong little Chinese lady for setup and tear down. beltfed not getting any younger.

The basic bench as shown has a 3/4" plywood top.
But, my "extension" top for use with rifles that have the barrel
null /support point way out, I have a second top that
bolts on top that is also 3/4" plywood. It extends forward.
Also, I have added a small rachet strap load tightener that
is installed between the top at the base of rear legs to the bottom cross member that helps make the bench more rigid.
I will see about getting another pic with the whole setup with
rifle, cross stix rest, etc

westerner,
Yes, "beltfed not getting any younger"
So far, I can still handle wrestling the bench from my vehicle to the firing line. But I am also thinking maybe it needs wheels
though i usually don't have to go far from the car to the firing line
Also, I am highly greatfull and thankful for those fellow shooters
who often help me with the bench.

Also, I have at this point, not scheduled any BPCR matches this year at Rapids. Just too much going on.

As a long time professional boat builder and custom furniture shop owner let me say I like the way you incorporated those catering table leg sets into your bench. I would bet unlike most four legged pieces that are hard to stabilize on hard surfaces your's work. They work I think because that type of folding leg set has enough play to find bottom and not rock and the reason they were developed and are used for quick set up and stability.

I've built a number of shooting benches years past but I'm a firm believer in three legs as they always
find neutral like stools, tripods etc., and allow plenty of leg room.  But success is success and yours is real nice.
