[SOLD] Winchester High Wall 35-55 Set-Trigger
Yesterday at 4:16pm
Print Post
For Sale: Winchester 1885 High Wall, Serial No.: 1785, Caliber: .38-55 Win, 30-inch part-octagonal barrel

The action shows light traces of case colors on the right side. The trigger is a single-set trigger. The rifle cocks on opening, but you cannot fire the rifle unless you set the trigger. It seems this could be an easy fix if it matters.

The No.3 weight barrel is part-octagonal with a fair to good bore (leaning more towards fair). I've only pushed Hoppe's-soaked patches down the barrel. The barrel's blueing is turning patina on the round part of the barrel and has wear on the high edges.

The buttstock shows bumps but the wood is original and proud to the metal. There is a script "S" in German-silver (?) inlet into the bottom of the buttstock.
The forearm has been drilled and recessed for a palm rest, but it doesn't look like one was ever installed. There is a sliver of wood missing on the right side of the forearm near the action.

The rifle is a nice example, and the trigger could be worked out by someone with a little time and talent.

Price: $1,350 includes shipping via US Priority Mail

First "I'll take it" posted here gets it.

Thank you ...
Joe

Thank You jimmy. I drooled over the pictures and it took me most of an hour to convince myself that I didn't need another rifle.

Been looking for an early high wall, a set trigger, and a 38-55. This checks all 3 boxes.
