Stevens 44 with Double Set in 32RF

Got a 44 that has the Square Corner Frame.  Numbers match, 
7 o'clock Extractor, Loop Lever, #3 Barrel and Tang Sight.  Action is 1 1/8" wide.
Wants it converted to 32-20 but I'm reluctant to alter an Original Survivor.  Any Advice from those who know more than I do?  David
