Any body have a good starting point for a cast bullet load?  I have a 175gr GC bullet that I will shoot without the gas check.  24:1 alloy because that was in the pot.  Shooting from Rolling Block

How about the original load, a heavily compressed charge of black powder.

It is for a smokeless action.  I did consider BP, but not for long  Smiley

I once dissected a 303 cartridge with a military load and discovered cordite sticks. Interesting that that worked.  They didn't seem to burn very fast individually

Some loads I have recorded for the 303B with 180gn cast bullets
27.5gn Acurate LT-30
30.5gn H-4895
8.5gn Red Dot
21gn 2400
All my other loads are with the Lyman 314299 which is a heavier bullet.
As always start low and work up.

You can use 30/40 Krag data to get started. They are very close in case capacity and with the 303's slightly larger groove diameter, any 30/40 load should produce a little lower pressure.

in my 30/40 HW, a accurate load with a 183 gr PB bullet is 14.0 gr 4227. A accurate load with a 167 gr GC bullet is 18.0 gr 4759.
