The Quigley 2026

Another Quigley is in the books. The range is opened on the Monday before Fathers Day. You can shoot he targets for the entire week preceding the match.  Of course the conditions vary daily or even from one hour to another. This year typical hard west wind, add heavy gusts for a couple of days.  Then a lovely bright sunny day. As usual the weather was a little hard on Vendors row.  Come the competition naturally none of the previous week, rather overcast, high humidity, with varying breezes from the NE.  But that's the fun of eastern Montana.  It is a great experience with wonderful people.  If you have not attended, you owe it to yourself to do so.  Besides where else can you camp, have all the shooting you would want for an entire week, be with people of like interest all for the sum of the entry fee for the match.  This year $50.

There were over 500 shooters. Something like 534 if I remember correctly. It was a great year. Good weather. Not too hot. Shootable winds.
This was my 4th year and my wife’s 1st year as a shooter. She had 24 and I had 34 hits. We’ve been adopted by the Minnesota crew. Great bunch of guys!

Just Google, Quigley rifle match video. There's at least a half a dozen out there.

Here's a couple of short clips of the Quigley. First one has a small segment on the shooters that just happened to be in our group. The range officer and shooter with the red arm band is Tom Mace who is now turning 88 years old and still going strong. The second one is a little more professionally done but there are still many that are easy found on the net.

That looks like a ton of fun.  Some friends and I happened to stay at Raton about 25v years ago and a BPCR shoot was going on. We visited with several competitors.  We got invited to watch them shot 1000 yards the next day.  I recall the shooter from prone could fire,  clear and ground his rifle,  roll over,  look into his spotting scope,  and watch the bullet impact.
You guys are gonna get me into another shooting discipline... Smiley
