Rolling block firing pin bushing project

I have had two old Rolling Block actions in a shop for over two years now waiting for them to have the firing pin holes in the receivers bushed and new firing pins made.

I'm thinking that my seventy plus year old problematic heart probably does not have too many more years to wait for this work to be completed and them follow thru with  (2) custom builds and hopefully a couple of years of enjoying the resulting rifles before my heirs dispose of them in exchange for cash.

I talked with the owner of the shop and he didn't seem to be hopeful that the jobs would receive his attention anytime soon, he cited the retail side of his business as taking all of his time and attention resulting in little time to work on guns.  It's a shame as his restoration work is flawless and top notch and there are few out there doing the kind of work he excels in.

That being said, I may be looking for a smith who is capable of doing this kind of work in perhaps a better turn around prospect.

Anybody have an idea how much this work should cost and who might be able to do it with a turn around time not measured in years?

I can only speak from experience and at 77 I'm in the same boat as you. Someone that I would strongly recommend is Dennis Olson in Plains, Montana. He has worked on five rifles for me over the last few years doing conversions from rim to centerfire, installing liners and re-boring and rechambering. The rifles were rolling blocks and 44s and the work was top notch at a fair price and a turnaround of under six months. Shipping from N.Y. to Montana and back was flawless. He knows single shots and you can find him on google. Worth a phone call, hope that this helps.

You might try Riverview Rifle Works, in Iowa.  (563) 579-7287

Thank you both for the leads, will retrieve the actions on an upcoming trip and contact these smiths to try to restart the process.
