Mine are single shots, but bolt actions; a 52 C and an H&R M-12, which appears to be a 52 D built after 'Winchester" quit making the 52 series.

How do I remove the bolts?  I am baffled.

For the "C" and "D" models equipped with the MicroMotion trigger (and the Japanese sporters), this is the procedure:

*  See to it that the rifle is not loaded.  Close the bolt while holding the trigger, so the striker will be at rest and not cocked.

*  Put your thumb behind the trigger and push forward.  Maintain this forward pressure on the trigger.

*  While your thumb holds that position, raise the bolt handle and pull back the bolt, removing it from the receiver.

Re-installing the bolt is a little trickier.

*  First you must get the cocking lever out of the way.  Slide your pinky finger into the rear of the action from the ejection port.  Your finger will be resting on the cocking lever.  Pull the trigger to release the cocking lever.  You will feel this happen.  Hold the cocking lever in the "fired" position with your pinky.

*  While holding the cocking lever down, use the thumb of your other hand to push the trigger forward.  This will secure the cocking lever, but you must keep constant pressure on the cocking lever, as it is spring loaded.

*  While maintaining forward pressure on the rear of the trigger (and thus restraining the cocking lever, maneuver the bolt into the rear of the action.  Jiggle it until it slides in, over the restrained cocking lever.  Shove the bolt home, and you are done.

It may take you several tries to master the technique of re-installing the bolt, but you will.
