Another Ballard. Auction said .36 caliber. Most likely an exceedingly rare chambering... Or a typo.

Not yet Frank. Auction was yesterday.

It appears to be. Replacement stocks also I'm assuming.
Auction stated the barrel is by Ron Long.

We'll see when it gets here. .36 caliber sounds odd. Maybe Jacks right, inline round ball gun. I got a soft spot for oddball orphan Ballards.

The auction says 36 gauge. Maybe that's what it actually is. 36 gauge just happens to be .410.

Might be a 40/63?

Or maybe just a choked smooth bore Wink

No .410 with those sights methinks. Mighty handsome rifle whatever it turns out to be. Congrats, Jose'.  Smiley

.410 buckshot as a 200yd offhand gun.  Would do better that I can with a few dozen single projectiles.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

come to think of it, Jack, it'd improve my offhand as well. I don't want to learn or purchase the reloading gear for one tho. Let's see what that critter Joe bought is- proabably a typo for a .38 in rimfire. Cheesy Just think of it: a Ron Long in .38rf. gotta be really scarce, huh?

We maybe should start a pool to guess what cartridge it's chambered for. A $10 entry for one prediction, winner splits the pool with ASSRA. Jack can safely hold the money because I understand he's stocked up now on primers for the season.

I'll start it by predicting .357 Maximum (but marked ".36 XXXX" for safety/liability reasons, loads in the 15-20K psi realm for obvious reasons).
