Rook, Sporting, and Double Rifle Match, Oct '26 (Read 114 times)

	Rick Weber just announced that the next Rook, Sporting, and Double Rifle match will be held on October 16 and 17, 2026. This will be the 5th match that Rick has held. The match will be held at the Oak Ridge Sportsman Association range in Oak Ridge, TN. The matches consist of 5 shots fired standing at 25, 50, & 100 yards. It should be a well worth attending match, if not just for the fun of shooting your vintage rifles but also seeing very interesting rifles that others bring and talking with like-minded shooters and collectors. Rick made the comment that because this is the same weekend as the TN v AL game, you should make your hotel reservations in advance. Many attendees stay in Lenoir City, TN.

	This event is one that is very worthwhile for the single shot enthusiast! Originally conceived as a way to compete with British (and some European) single shots, then double guns and rook rifle events were added. Very low key and friendly, I went for the first time this past Spring and shot my 32-40 high wall in the Classic Single Shot Rifles event, then my 25-20 SS low wall in the Rook Rifle event. The rifles both did well, but my ammo prep was too poor… the 25-20 was too old and a case broke and stopped that event. The 32-40 was thrown together at the last moment with predictable results. Yes, I ]u]am[/u] planning to be there in October [u]with good ammo!] it’s a blast. Froggie

	There are sure some interesting, different and alluring firearms at this match. Perhaps “breathtaking” is a more apt description.
