Wes,

I looked at that mould and saw the large baseband. Should I reduce it?

Yes. In the notes when ordering, tell them what dimensions you want.  I get best results with groove diameter bases so I ordered mine .326 My Remington barrel is .326. I don't remember the bore diameter.

I have changed diameters a few times. I figured out that that 185P bullets we’re actually 30-1 so I am going to cast some with a couple of moulds in that weight range.

No but I found a recently purchased Ideal mould with similar dimensions that had not tried in 30-1. I figured I would also cast a Saeco 632 and a Hoch in the same 180 gr weight range before making a decision. I might just go ahead and order the one you like anyway.
I originally bought the 32-185P to see if it would be as good as the Hoch I have in a relined 32-40 barrel that I was going to mount on my crusty receiver and sell with one of my breech seaters as an entry level package. That mould did not shoot well however and I abandoned the project. I think I vaguely remember selling the mould on this forum a while back.  Silly me!

Groove looks to be .320 and bore of .315.

Here are the 30-1 bullets I cast today for my next outing.

The mystery mould is an excellent quality mould with absolutely no markings on it.

Jack have you check your speed on that load?
I assume 1-16 twist?

One thing that I found when working with 30/1, was that when I first ried it, I got a exceptional group so, I switched to it. After a few months, I found that overall the 20/1 produced more reliable groups, with less fliers. So, I switched back.

30/1 is more susceptible to deformation, when shooting the higher tapered bullets, too. I think I'd try to keep the taper at no more than .003 or use cylindrical bullets with 30/1.

BNICE, the load with the Accurate 32-185P was measured at 1375 fps. 16 twist.
Frank,
I have tried all of these bullets in 20-1 with only mediocre accuracy.  I can make up some 25-1 and try that too.  The sad thing is no more Tommy’s matches to shoot bench irons at. We stopped shooting that at Tacoma years ago but I added it back this spring. I came in a close last out of 2 shooters.

Jack, Raton, they have IS matches at Raton. Or you can leave your scopes at home and use ISs exclusively. If you show up at Raton with your nice Winchester you will be a hit!

I will talk to the pilot of my Learjet to see if he can fly me there. I will probably have to bring a nurse to care for my sore back.

If you do that, pick me up on the way down........ I like nurses, too!

Can your Magical Mystery Tour swing by and pick me up too? Maryland isn't far out of the way.

A sight to behold: a bunch of old guys nodding off in their seats, with vintage single shot rifles held upright between their knees. "Are we there yet?"

Jack, do like I do, I know you can. Throw money at it.
You're worth millions yet balk at spending a hundred bucks on a mold.

I bought a new mill vise to match my old one. Turns out no match so I just ordered another vise. If a poor old curmudgeon can do it you can do it. Now order that 32-180D mold from Accurate. If it doesn't work I'll buy it from you.

.320 is small for a Winchester barrel. Double check it. Double check your micrometer and caliper also.
