Litschert scope

I have come into the possession of a 15 X Litschert scope.  It has the heaviest cross-hairs of any scope I've ever used.  Why?  The man who used the scope was a very good offhand shot.  Maybe those coarse cross-hairs helped.

If you read the old books from the 30s, the writers wrote that Litschert used reject fence wire for cross hairs.

Litschert scopes were the equal of any of the others.

Easy enough to swap the crosshairs out for thinner ones if you don't like them.

Currently I have two Listchert scopes. A 10 and a 20 power. Both have fine cross hairs. No good? Listchert scope mounts are good. Fit any base.

The Litschert scopes a bid dated nowadays, but are optically sound devices.

Over the last twelve years I have had many opportunities to look through and use modern rifle scopes at .22 Silhouette matches. The one modern scope I settled on and that I use is a Weaver T10. Said to be outdated by many. Many of the many are those trying to sell the latest gizmo. Thank heaven we still have the fine old Feckers, Unertls, Lymans, Listcherts and such to use on our fine single shot rifles.

Now if I could find a scope that sets my rifle off when the cross hairs are centered on the target.....

My 15x Litchert has fine x-hairs and the optics are equal to my STS Lymans.

I shot this 200 yard target with it, in a match. The impacts are 30 cal are were very visable at 200.

I only had one Litschert scope, and it was a 15x that was on my Remington Hepburn Match A when I bought it. A very nice scope with typical fine crosshairs. Then at Greeley I bought two more Litschert scopes from two sellers that are 12x fine crosshair, and 20x medium crosshair.
I think heavier crosshairs are for those who might have older eyes, or have trouble seeing fine crosshairs. I know that black bullseyes make very fine crosshairs tougher to center on for me sometimes.

I bought a Martini 12/15 at Cabelas in KC five years ago with a 15x Davis Spot Shot mounted on top. I was told that Davis was the son in law of Litschert and bought the company. Regardless of who was who, it’s a very good telescope with the fine crosshairs, and the adjustments on both scope and mounts work freely. Best of all, I only paid $450 for both rifle and scope. It was like buying either item and getting the other for free. Hands down the best Black Friday weekend deal I’ve ever found.
