Ron Long barrel, okay, 36 caliber? Huh? Misprint? Must be .38.

How stupid do these companies think people are.  If you are under 18 do they expect you to admit it?  I blame the blood sucking lawyers!

Couple questions.

Are engraved #5’s common?

Did Rock Island change there site?  Seems cleaner and with better photos than last I looked.

In Dutcher's Ballard book, there's a listing for an engraved #5, and I think I have a rifle with an engraved #5 action, so they seem to be out there.

I doubt it's a #5 action Bob. It's pistol gripped, and loop lever, which neither were standard on the #5. I'd bet the barrel and receiver numbers don't match. I think it's a special order #8 Union Hill action that someone put a Pacific barrel on. If it does by chance all match it's a very rare configuration, and maybe one of a kind.

Yeah a Ron Long barrel, but somehow it's "original bluing"? How does a replacement barrel have original bluing? Of course the only proof it's a Ron Long barrel is the consignor's word.

I bid on the Ron Long barrel gun a little over a year ago and was beat out by someone on the floor. At that time it also had the original barrel with it.
