Im hoping to find someone who can appraise a shiloh sharps and accompanying accessories that I've inherited. I do not wish to sell it. Id like to know how much to insure it for if need be.

I'd call Shiloh and speak with them and they could give you a good estimate. Or go on their website and see what a new one would cost. I'd insure it for what it would cost to replace it.

It seems there is no info on anything below 3000? My rifle is sn B1794. Perhaps someone who has a rifle in the range and ordered it themselves could give me a rough date?

The best way, assuming you know what options it has, is just to go the Shiloh web site and use their order form to configure a new one with the same options.  You can easily double, or more, the value based on the options.

The fact that it has a B in the serial number is good.  That means it was built by the current owners and will be more desirable than those built by the first owners.

Probably a good used gun will sell for around 75% of a new one, but even that can vary.  Some configurations are only built very infrequently like those with 14,16, and 25 lb barrels.  Those won't see much if any discount.

Chris.

Post some pics of the rifle and accesories so we can see what model Shiloh you have. Then someone can give you a good estimate. Without seeing what you have its hard to say. Since its got a B in front of the number its a Kirk built Shiloh but there is all different barrels, wood grades and finishes so can't say with out seeing it.

It has a 34" octagonal barrel, French grayed receiver, pewter forearm tip and what i think is at least upgraded wood with a metal buttplate. The rear sight is a c sharps manufacture. I do not have photos of the extras yet, but they are as follows.

X2 rcbs .40 cal molds
Set of reloading dies by rcbs
200 brass cases
Several dozen front sight inserts
Wad and lube cookie punches
A 24x24 wooden and brass range box with compartments for ammunition and the like.

I also received about 50lbs of lead ingots and several hundred cast bullets.

As suggested you can go to the Shiloh website and use their ordering form to get the exact cost of your gun but here is a copy of the order form with what I can tell from your pictures. As to the rest of to extras it shouldn't be to hard to make a guess which would be what could be negotiated between a buyer and seller.

Steve,
Gunlaker and Oleblacksmith are giving you great advice. I worked for Shiloh as head of the Final Inspection department for 16 years. Once I had signed off on an inspection ticket, the rifle would generally ship within a week to 10 days. I still have some of my inspection notes from the time I worked there.
Your rifle was finished and inspected on Monday, 10 May, 1993. My notes list it as a Long Range Express.

Hope this information is of some help.
Oleblacksmith has done most of the work for you!

That is a mighty nice inheritance you have there!
