After my many years in the Aerospace industry, I know there is No “repairing” flight hardware or electronics. My years in development and Quality Assurance. Forbids repair. Only replacement or at best “reworking” the defective part. Splices are a big no no unless approved by engineering after the rework has been process written and qualified….. a lengthy process…
Just saying,

PS I don’t mind casting…..

Same for me Tom. When a reject bullet pops out of a mold I never try to repair it. I just cast a new one. Aerospace industry and bullet casting, who woulda thunk they had anything in common.

You are correct sir. We would remove and replace most of the time but there were rare occasions where we had to dig in there and fix something and yes engineering and quality was always involved in the work.
