ALERT.. ALERT, ALERT, Oh..Boy
Regarding my post below.....
In the world of unbelievable bad coincidences.
When I said in my post
"This particular (I won't refer to him as "Gent")"
I was trying to say that the surly guy who shorted me on a barrel was not a gentleman. I did not mention his name for obvious reasons.
I HAD NO IDEA there happens to be a guy out there with the last name "GENT"
EVEN more Coincidentally, as it happened I had bought a barrel from a member who goes by 'Pinwheel' who happens to have the same last name "Gent"
When I got a PM from him saying in essence 'What's you beef with me,? I was befuddled, Naturally he thought I was talking about him.
I was NOT... My dealing with 'Pinwheel' ( "'Mr. Gent'") was perfect, on the up and up and straight forward. I don't think I'll ever with one or two exceptions, be able to associate ASSRA web monikers with someone's real name.
So with my apologies and self admonition I ask for Mr. Gent's aka 'Pinwheel' forgiveness. He has been and I'm sure a Good Guy.
Full disclosure, I don't remember much any more..

"12 Days since joining".. Hummm? . "Caveat Emptor"
Now with that said, I purchased a barrel from a long standing member that arrived 3+ inches shorter than advertised.
This particular (I won't refer to him as "Gent") has posted pictures of his other rifles which are all spectacular, so he clearly knows and appreciates the details it takes to make a rifle a show piece.
So was this a honest mistake.. ?
Obviously it could have been but when I brought the discrepancy to his attention he got down right surly.
Point is, length of time as a member of ASSRA is usually but not necessarily a good indicator.
BTW, That's a great price..!

What's the groove diameter?
Following a long conversation with Douglas about rebarreling a Stevens 44 1/2 in .32-40 and the OD at each end, I ordered a barrel. After it was fitted by a local gunsmith, drilled and tapped, front dovetail cut, I was informed that it was .319 in the groves.
I was later told that Douglas' normal .32 caliber barrels are .319. If you want one of in .321 you had to order an 8mm.
