What's the groove diameter?

Following a long conversation with Douglas about rebarreling a Stevens 44 1/2 in .32-40 and the OD at each end, I ordered a barrel.  After it was fitted by a local gunsmith, drilled and tapped, front dovetail cut, I was informed that it was .319 in the groves.

I was later told that Douglas' normal .32 caliber barrels are .319.  If you want one of in .321 you had to order an 8mm.
