Obviously I am a 35-40 Maynard Fan...
The following falls in the FWITW category
For those unfamiliar, the 35-40 brass is easily made from 38-55 Brass...
and maybe fire formed from 32-40 brass. ?
I didn't know about making brass from 357 mag pistol dies.
Depending on which reamer was used to chamber this rifle, some utilized 2.080 brass and some, like mine are 2.125"
Either way obtaining brass for this cartridge is easy.
Mine is a 12 twist which I wish was a 10 for the longer distances. I'm shooting a 340 grain NASA design.
I've seen several pictures of 'Hairtrigger's other rifles which are all show pieces.

This is a semi-restored Win. M85 HiWall cal. .35/40 that looks great and shoots even better. The action is 50% original case colors and a single set trigger. Serial # 69xxx (antique - 1895). Wood is all original finish and the buttstock is straight grip shotgun. The barrel is Win. 30” #3 full oct. that has been rebored and cut rifled to .35 cal. with 8 grove, .030 wide lands, groove diameter, .358 .1:16” twist. Chambered for .35/40. Cartridge prep requires only .357 mag. pistol dies. PM me for additional info. Barrel has standard scope blocks on 8” centers and barrel has been rust blued. Rifle has iron sights (strictly decorative for me these days). I’m 85 and with a 10x scope and fixed ammo, cast or jacketed bullets it will shoot 1 1/2” at 100 yards all day long. @ $2500.
I prefer not to ship due to bad experiences with USPS. I am in northern Illinois and intend to have this rifle at ASSRA spring match in Indiana 5/26
