J. Stevens 25-20 assembly assistance

Serious Help Needed!!

I'm working on a J. Stevens A & T Co. Favorite 44 in 25-20 (see pictures).  The issue is exactly this...I cannot get the rifle put back together!!
There is almost zero references online to assist me in this endeavor.  If there is a manual, video, stone tablet, cave painting that one of you fine folks have to assist me I would be forever grateful.
I've included pictures to assist in the proper identification and classification of this beautiful rifle.

Thanks in advance to Y'All helping out and all the very best,

Brian

No pics. Cave painting... lol

It is most likely not a favorite but a 44.

They can be tricky the first time or 2. Slide the breech block up from the bottom like it came out and keep the extractor in place. Seems like you can try the extractor from the top. The extractor is the hard part. But then again, I've put them back together many times.

I see the pictures now. That is a nice looking 44 Stevens. Some decent color case. I should go mow but could post assembly pics later. As in tomorrow.

Hi Brian
If it’s a 25-20, it’s probably a 25-20ss; Favorites were never made in center fire. Search this website for Stevens 44.
Welcome to the forum. What part of the country are you from?

The Stevens model 44 rifle has a relatively simple action, what are you having a problem with trying to reassemble it?
What is most confusing to most people unfamiliar with the action is the breech block and lever pins. These pins go in the action left to right and are retained by screws on the right side of the action. What is confusing is the pins are slotted like a screw, and they do not unscrew.

The problem is the trigger springs...they fell out before I was able to take a picture of them!  If there is a picture of the guts of the rifle it would really go a long way to getting this little rifle back 10-8.
And I'm just west of the greater Jacksonville, Fl area.   Retired from the Broward Sheriff's Office after 31 years and the USAF after 33 years.
Thanks for the assistance guys!!

Should be straight forward enough, but the trigger spring shouldn’t just fall out. Hammer spring yes.
