Unique replacement

I use a lot of Unique in many of my loads for the smaller pistol class cartridges but it is now hard to find. What powders would be the best to use as a replacement.  Thanks

Alliant 20/28 shot gun powder is right next to it on a burn chart. There was also a Alliant reference to using it it in Cowboy pistol loadings.

231 runs quite similar, but it is a ball powder.
AA 5 is another similar

On my burn rate chart, there are 16 powders, between Unique and 231.

I've got plenty of Unique but, if I was going to need a replacement, I think I'd go with 20/28,  Accurate #5, IMR 4756 or Power pistol

The powder I've used to duplicate Unique is WSF Winchester Super Field.

It's rated at quite a bit faster than Unique, but I've found Titegroup to work great in a wide range of pistol loads. Lots of published loads, just doesn't get up to the magnum ranges.

CFe Pistol is a little slower than Unique, with lots of data itself. Both seem easily available, and on the better side of the powder price range.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Most shotgun powders will work, but not at the exact same load levels Unique loaded with.

Someone gave me a canister of American Select once and it seemed that that powder was essentially a much cleaner-burning version of Unique.  However, I did develop loads from the beginning, same as usual, noticing afterwards that the charge weights in the cases I tried it in were close to the charges of Unique I was also using.  I never blindly selected a caliber and just used Unique data for the stuff.

Haven't seen another canister since I used that one up.  I don't know if it's still produced or not.

Ive been using CFE Pistol in quite a few reduced cast bullet loads in rifles. Its not position sensitive and velocities are very uniform. No load data or Quickload prolofile for it so i had to wing it.
I have an 03A3 30-06 somebody throated like crazy . The only way I can get it to shoot is breach seating. I know this isn't a single shot , but this is just for reference.

I predicted that my stash of Unique would last me to the end. With 4 or 5 pounds left at the moment I think I achieved my goal. Can't imagine a world without Unique, Bullseye, 2400, 4759, et al which is why I started stockpiling it when I could afford it (and often when I couldn't afford it). Priorities, baby, priorities!
