Pedersoli Sharps

Bought a new Pedersoli Sharps in .45-70. Took it to the range and shot some ammo I had loaded up back in 2019 for my '86 Winchester. Out of 20 rounds 6 did not fire. Back when loaded I never had an issue with the Winchester (an original inherited from my grandfather and made in 1887) not firing.
Looking at the impact on the primers it looked VERY light. I pulled the breech block out and pushed on the hammer contact point with my thumb and when pressed down fully (tab was pushed flush with the breech block recess slot machined into it). Now unless this has an inertial firing pin that protrudes out a lot further from momentum the protrusion of the striker is minuscule. No wonder the dent in the primer was so shallow.
Is this a common issue with these rifles or did I just get a bad (short) firing pin?

You got one with a problem. My dad had one and it was an excellent rifle and excellent shooter.
